This is a really strange site. Hundreds of photos of animals yawning. If you don't believe me check it out. Horrible design as well.

We used to go to The Grampians a lot when we were kids and it was always a favourite place. Although we talked about going back all the time now that we are all older it wasn't until now that we finally got organised enough to make it happen. We stayed right in Halls Gap at Grampians Holiday Retreat which is a big house that we all managed to fit in together. Almost everybody was there - Mum, Dad, Grandma, Grandad, Nanna, Michelle, Jason, Madeline and us.

It was a long drive for us from Sydney but we broke the trip by staying at Elmore. Was hoping to make it to Bendigo but was running a bit low on fuel - unfortunately in central Victoria there aren't any 24 hour service stations like there are all over the place in Sydney. Had a quick visit to Maldon which is another favourite place to visit.

We spent eight days in The Grampians which we filled mainly with walks and sightseeing but also eating, drinking, board games, snooker, minigolf and the wildlife park. The ruggedness and beauty of the countryside is indescribable and you just feel like going for a walk every day. We also enjoyed everybody being under the same roof which doesn't happen enough and four generations of the family hanging out together.

Really didn't want the holiday to end and thinking about going back to work and not being able to explore more of The Grampians was very depressing. Hopefully we can make it a regular thing to look forward to each year.

Ten years ago id released Doom and changed the face of gaming forever. GameSpy have a good article on the history of Doom.

PowerGen is a large company in England that sells electricity. They've formed a division in Italy. They went for the obvious company name and that's what they registered the domain under. The site is standard corporate stuff but the domain name is funny.

Ibble Dibbles - Semi Final - 7 to 26

At the end of the regular season we finished third overall and made the finals once again. We didn't have a great season mainly because we struggled to get a full team for most of our games. We really struggled against the old teams but did well against the new teams.

After going 3 weeks without a game we had to return for a tough semi final match against Ibble Dibbles. Again we only had 6 people for the game so we knew we were in a lot of trouble from the start. It was a frustating game and we were unable to get any sort of traction because we were missing a player. They played well and finished with a convinving win.

It's time to hang up the boots for a while so this is probably the end of the Honeywell Net Junkies. I've personally been part of the team for nearly 3 years, although the team formed a little before that. I'd like to say a huge thank you to the many people who have played with us over the years - we always played fair, had fun and made good friends.

Kirsten's Team - 34 to 11

Kirsten's Team is a new team that has joined the competition to replace one of the other teams that would never show up. We only had 6 players and were 20 points up at half time. Wasn't much of a game but gave us a chance to practice a few plays.

Yowie Hunters - 20 to 9

This was great game that was very fast and a lot more even than the score suggests. We had a small lead at half time and were only able to relax in the last few minutes. There's only a couple of games left before the finals and once again we should finish third or fourth.

Oink - 28 to 5

Another game made easier by having a full team. Unfortunately they didn't have a full team so it wasn't an even matchup. They play well in the first half and we stuffed around a bit, so that at half time it was still a close game. In the second have we raised the bar and played a lot better. We actually managed to keep them scoreless the entire second half while we almost tripled our halftime score.

Interesting discussion about where people think computing will be in 10 years time. Even more interesting is the link somebody found to a similar discussion in an old Usenet thread "What specifications will the standard year 2001 PC have?" from 10 years ago. It's funny to see how wrong some of the predictions are. Of course many have proven to be very optimistic, but there are plenty that fall short of where we actually made it today.

Black Jack - 30 to 16

It was good to play with a full side again and to have everybody in position. Everybody played a great game and confidence seems to be back again.
